MALCOLM KING, PhD’73
has been appointed Scientific Director of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research’s Institute of Aboriginal Peoples’ Health (CIHR-IAPH). A member of the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation in Southern Ontario, Malcolm is a Professor in the University of Alberta’s Pulmonary Medicine Division. He also heads the U of A’s Aboriginal Health Care Careers program and chairs its University Aboriginal Advisory Council. Focusing primarily on respiratory health issues among aboriginal peoples, he is the author of some 160 scientific papers. CIHR is composed of 13 institutes, each with its own scientific director, and is the government of Canada’s agency for health research.
