The President-elect of Peru, Ollanta Humala, has chosen Luis Miguel Castilla to be his finance minister in the new government Humala is forming. Castilla had been deputy finance minister in the outgoing government.
Markets in Peru reacted favourably to this and other simultaneous cabinet nominations, seeing them as a sign that the new president is choosing moderate or centre-right administrators in line with his pledge to respect free trade agreements and promote private investment.
