Michael Oved Dayan’s documentary, High Plains Doctor: Healing on the Tibetan Plateau, is set to premiere on the CBC documentary channel.
His film documents the efforts of Nunavut chief medical officer Dr. Isaac Harry Sobol and his team to establish and run a primary care clinic in a Tibetan village.
Dayan is the founder of Helliwell Pictures, a Vancouver-based production company specializing in documentary filmmaking. Dayan has explained that he seeks to create films that “share real-life stories of creative and courageous individuals working to bring hope to others.”
After graduating from McGill, Dayan taught courses in communications and cultural studies at both The University of Fraser Valley and Royal Roads University. He now divides his time between work for Helliwell Pictures, creating privately commissioned films, and as Director of Research and Communications for the Green Collar Association, an environmental organization.
The High Plains Doctor will air on the CBC documentary channel on May 7, 2012 at 7:00 pm PT/10:00pm ET.
