Robert H. Taylor, CM, FRCSC, has been awarded the 2012 Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada’s Teasdale-Corti Humanitarian Award.
The award recognizes physicians who go above and beyond the call of duty to provide health care and medical services internationally.
Taylor, a Vancouver-based surgeon who has assisted patients in more than a dozen countries worldwide is also a clinical associate professor at the University of British Columbia’s department of surgery, as well as director of the Branch for International Surgery, which he also founded.
He has provided relief to patients in countries such as India, Zambia, Haiti, and Sri Lanka, among many other places. In addition to providing front-line treatment, he has devoted considerable time to training others in trauma care and disaster relief treatment.
