Gordon Gore is the recipient of a 2011 Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Award for Science Promotion.
The award, valued at $10,000, is in recognition of his leadership and dedication to the promotion of science–both in and out of the classroom–for over five decades.
One of Gore’s most significant accomplishments has been the creation of the BIG Little Science Centre, in Kamloops, British Columbia. The centre, which saw over 15,000 visitors last year, engages visitors with a variety of exhibits and interactive stations that are both entertaining and educational.
NSERC supports over 30,000 post-secondary students and postdoctoral fellows in their educational endeavours, as well as well as 12,000 professors per year .
