Maria Eitel has been named an extraordinary woman by Fast Company magazine in honour of her efforts to advocate for girls in the developing world.
In its recent cover feature, “Meet The League Of Extraordinary Women: 60 Influencers Who Are Changing The World,” Fast Company Magazine gives Eitel top billing, profiling her among peers such as singer Alicia Keys and Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg.
The article focuses on her work as CEO of The Nike Foundation. The organization’s activities support the Girl Effect, an initiative that seeks to end poverty by investing in the educational and economic empowerment of girls, particularly in the developing world where they are most vulnerable.
