Jeff Roberts has written and released The Battle for the Books, which follows the controversy around Google’s attempt to create the world’s largest library, “a modern-day Library of Alexandria.”
Librarians predicted it would take 1,000 years to scan the world’s books. Then Google set about to do it in five. As Google proceeded to scan everything from War and Peace to Watership Down, the company’s quest to build the largest library generated a great deal of controversy. The Battle for the Books provides a rare look at the Google Books project through interviews with people inside the project.
