McGill’s 12 Juno nominees

Awards season is in full swing, and McGill graduates continue to garner nods and collect hardware.

This week, the nominees for the Juno Awards, Canada’s best-known music honours, were announced, and there was no shortage of McGillians among them.

Up for awards at next month’s ceremony are…

Leonard Cohen, BA’55, DLitt’92: Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Fan Choice Award
Elizabeth Shepherd, BMus’04: Vocal Jazz Album of the Year
Jennifer Gasoi, BA’96, BSW’96: Children’s Album of the Year
Chris Luedecke (aka Old Man Luedecke), BA’98: Roots and Traditional Album of the Year: Solo
Dan Kurtz (of Dragonette), BA’96: Dance Recording of the Year
François Houle (of François Houle 5+1), BMus’84: Contemporary Jazz Album of the Year
Joel Miller, BMus’93: Contemporary Jazz Album of the Year
Rafael Zaldivar, BMus’10: Contemporary Jazz Album of the Year
Nicolas Caloia (of Ratchet Orchestra), LMus’00: Instrumental Album of the Year
Pierre Lamoureux, BMus’88, and François Lamoureux, BMus’91: Music DVD of the Year

Also nominated, for Classical Album of the Year: Solo or Chamber Ensemble, is Schulich School of Music cello instructor Yegor Dyachkov, a member of  Triple Forte. The Junos air on April 21. Read more >>
