Just over five and a half years after its public launch, Campaign McGill, the University’s historic fundraising effort, concluded this week with the announcement that it had raised more than $1 billion.
In total, the Campaign amassed more than $1,026,000,000, surpassing its initial goal of $750 million by a third.
Over 60 per cent of the money raised has supported scholarships, student aid, enhanced programs and new teaching and learning spaces, while the remainder has sustained special faculty opportunities and research.
In all, more than 3,700 students benefited from the 600 new student bursaries, scholarships, fellowships and awards that were established as a direct result of the Campaign. The funds raised also created 46 new faculty chairs, which have allowed McGill to recruit and retain world-class researchers. Additionally, they have contributed almost $300 million in support of cutting-edge research and new and renovated teaching and learning spaces.
