MATTHEW RICKETTS, BMus’09

Matthew Ricketts, BMus’09, is among the recipients of the 2013 ASCAP Foundation Morton Gould Young Composers Awards, an honour recognizing his work writing music.

Ricketts was one of 28 winners chosen from a pool of 600 nominees between eight and 30 years old. He has studied under renowned composers including Brian Cherney, John Rae and Chris Paul Harman, and his music has been performed by the McGill Contemporary Music Ensemble, the Chiara String Quartet and the Nouvel Ensemble Moderne, among others.

Ricketts currently resides in New York City, where he is studying composition at Columbia University.
