Sarah Shell, BSc’03, was recently profiled by The Canadian Jewish News for her success as a handbag designer.
Shell is the founder of 442 McAdam, a handbag company whose wares have been sported by celebrities like Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Mena Suvari and Leighton Meester. Though Shell – a graduate of New York City’s Parsons design school – initially aspired to become a doctor, she launched the line following a circuitous career trek that saw her intern for Gucci and work for a management consulting firm in Calgary. An assignment that required her to research straps spurred her to create bags of her own, she says.
In addition to running 442 McAdam (named for her grandparents’ former address in Winnipeg), Shell is studying dentistry at the University of Western Ontario.
