Dental Outreach: Filling Local Needs

McGill’s Dental Outreach Program offers free dental care to those with financial hardships, physical and mental disabilities, as well as lack of insurance. It has been providing free dental care within the Montreal community for 16 years, and with your help, we will be able to continue to help individuals with the adversities mentioned above. After having volunteered for Outreach, we were able to understand that these individuals represent a large portion of the population, and that McGill dental students work hard to make their dental visit pleasant, allowing them to leave with smiles on their faces. Our Seeds of Change crowd-funding campaign will help maintain Outreach’s optimal standard of care for patients and, as previously mentioned, help treat more patients since dental care is not universally provided.

McGill Rocket Team has 4 days left to raise 10k!

The McGill Rocket Team is McGill's premier Aeronautics club. We are an engineering design team composed of over 70 students, from various departments and faculties at the university. We have come together out of a desire to do something memorable. We wish to use our knowledge and expertise to not only build a rocket, but also to provide an avenue through which future McGillians can embrace their nascent desire for rocketry too.

You planted the seeds, now see how they’ve grown!

During the summer we were proud to launch McGill’s first crowdfunding platform, Seeds of Change, to graduating students like yourself. The response we received to this initiative was incredible: during a two month test period of the website, nearly 400 donors gave close to $18,000 to nine different projects! Thank you so much for your support. But that was just a warm up… the site is going live to a much wider audience in mid-September, so stay tuned!

SeedStories: Why volunteer?

Work without pay? The concept may not seem great – at first. But more and more youth are recognizing volunteering as an invaluable experience in their lives. It’s a double win: Your community benefits from your help and you benefit from the practice and involvement.

SeedStories: Run to End Poverty

Sunday, Oct 21, saw hundreds of runners and walkers turn out for the Tour des Trois Sommets Brébeuf, a twisty-turny trail run over hill and vale for distances ranging from five to 40 kilometres. A fair number of these runners were decked out in EWB’s signature bright orange tech shirts.

Giving students a voice… The Importance of Class Action Programs

Whilst a student at The University of York, England, where I was one of only 9,400 undergraduates, the chances of seeing a familiar face whether out shopping or on a night out in one of the city’s many pubs, was fairly high. In fact, part of the appeal of York was that in a city so small and quaint, there’d never be an opportunity to get lost in the crowd; I was part of the York community and that filled me with pride.

Class Action 2011: BYOB Kiosk Having a Big Impact

We’ve reached our goal – Class Action 2011 has raised $13,000! That amount pays for the cost of the mobile water kiosk that dispenses purified municipal water, which the Office of Sustainability so nicely purchased for us even before all the funds were raised. That way we could have it in time for Convocation.
